If you've arrived here after listening to the podcast, first of all, thank you.
Over the past fifteen months, The Loneliness Industry grew from a simple question into something much bigger. Together, we explored loneliness not as a personal failing, but as something shaped by the systems we live within. Episode by episode, we followed those threads through philosophy, psychology, sociology, politics and systems thinking, gradually uncovering a model that seeks to explain not only loneliness itself, but why so many of us end up carrying burdens that were never ours to begin with.
Unfortunately, the podcast reached an unexpected turning point.
Following the loss of my part time work, I no longer have an income to support the hundreds of hours of research, writing, recording and production that each episode requires. Rather than rush the work or abandon it altogether, I've decided to do something I never imagined I'd ask: invite those who believe in the project to help build its next stage.
The Book
The next chapter of The Loneliness Industry is a book.
The podcast became the conversation. The book becomes the map.
For the first time, the complete model will be presented in one place, bringing together the ideas developed across the podcast while expanding them far beyond what was possible in an audio format. The book will include visual models, diagrams, state-machine representations, and practical frameworks that reveal the underlying architecture of the systems we've been exploring together.
Rather than replacing the podcast, the book lays the foundation for its future. My hope is that, once completed, it will allow The Loneliness Industry to continue sustainably, reaching new readers while making it possible for the podcast itself to return.
